Dr Tharani De Silva grew up in Auckland, New Zealand for most of her childhood and attended the University of Otago in Dunedin for Dentistry. In 2009 she completed her degree and worked solely in private practices in Auckland before crossing the ditch to a sunnier part of the world — beautiful Brisbane. She worked for Queensland Health and a number of private practices before landing a position as an associate dentist at Kedron Dental Centre in July 2012.

After nearly seven years with the practice, Tharani was offered the opportunity to purchase it, and became Principal Dentist and owner in April 2019. Since graduating, she has completed many hours of professional development in Australia and abroad to ensure her patients receive the best care, backed by the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment. She has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics and full mouth rehabilitations in porcelain.

In 2026, Tharani welcomed Dr Robert Ha and Dr Jungmin Kang as the new owners of Kedron Dental Centre, and is confident the practice is in excellent hands for its next chapter. She remains at Kedron as an associate dentist, continuing to care for her existing patients and the wider community she's come to know over more than a decade at the practice.

Outside the clinic, Tharani loves adventures — whether it's travelling to faraway lands, learning a new language to use on her travels, or taking up a cooking class to host dinner parties. Married with two children, everything she takes on is approached with the same care and precision she brings to her patients and her dentistry. She takes her time to perfect her work and is known for a gentle, thorough approach that puts patients at ease from the moment they meet her.
